The Project: Set Extension for "Três Graças ep.07"
Role: Digital Matte Painter | Client: Rede Globo
The Goal:
This shot involved extending the background architecture beyond the original practical set to increase depth and overall scene scale.
The matte painting was integrated into the plate while preserving perspective, lighting direction, and lens consistency to maintain a natural result.
The Real Challenges:
Matching the "Vibe": balancing the light and color from the 3D renders with the practical set to ensure the extra buildings felt physically present in the space.
Perspective Math: I had to ensure every new pillar and window aligned perfectly with the camera's lens since I had no camera info. If the perspective, lights and colors are off by a hair, the viewer feels it immediately.
Invisible Work: My favorite part of this shot is that if I did my job right, you won't even notice I was there. It’s all about creating a seamless transition from the physical set to the digital world.
